OUR MISSION…
is to honor nurses with our unique flag giving reverence to them for dedicating their lives to providing care to ill and disabled persons of all ages with their open hearts, empathy, compassion, advocacy and healing hands. The flag is a universal image of nurses’ dedication. The oil lamp brings hope and light embodied in the love of nursing.
ABOUT OUR FLAG, “MELISSA”
The flag’s image is reflective of three elements. First, the lamp. Florence Nightingale is credited as the founder of the modern day nursing practice and is synonymous with the oil lamp. She often cared for the sick and injured during the nighttime hours, carrying a lamp with her so she could see. Second, the heart reflects compassion, empathy, love and care nurses provide. Third, the color blue is associated with calmness, the sky and Melissa’s beautiful blue eyes.
